Gravel driveways

Car in gravel drive, Forest Hill, 1999.
I once knew an older couple who were pretty sure they had the only gravel driveway in Toronto. They were out in Etobicoke, and it was a legacy from when their neighbourhood was first developed back in the 1960s.
I remember rolling into that driveway about 10 years ago and enjoying the crunching sound - brought me right back to my rural roots. Since that time I've made it a bit of a mission to notice gravel driveways around the city. There are more of them than you might think. In fact there's one just about a block from where I now live.
This one's in one of the richest neighbourhoods in town. Who'da thunk it?

I have a gravel driveway out here in Burlington. You're right about the nice crunching sound...but clearing snow is a contact sport when you have a gravel driveway.
