Some changes made

Do you like what I've done with the place? I hope so. I've been mulling the changes for months, ever since I let the diary trail off late last spring.

I wasn't sure I was going to write online again at all.... and having spent an amazing summer getting closer to the earth, the sky, and my own heart, I must admit I've occasionally looked at returning to this first-person narrative as some kind of punishment. And yet, for reasons I can't totally explain, I'm going to continue writing in this space after all.

It's partly to do with the way my fingers feel on the keyboard - it's the kind of natural flow that also happens when I meditate, drive, paddle, play guitar, take photos, or walk in the woods.

It's partly to do with the fact that someone is out there reading. Those of you who follow my words and thoughts help make it all feel worthwhile. Your comments, online and in person, are an unlooked-for treat that I always appreciate.

It's partly to do with the world around. Recent events have convinced me that the search for wisdom is urgent. I think one man trying to make sense of his own little role in the great big universe can't hurt, and might help...

Mostly, though, I'm going to go at this online journaling with renewed vigour because I want to. For me. I don't know why, but it feels right, and that's that.

But there have been some changes made, necessary changes. I can't write if I'm getting in my own way. So out with promotion, and in with communication: I'm archiving the diary in favour of a true blog; I'm ditching the photo galleries; I'm trimming down the bio materials and getting rid of the Evergreen-related junk, the graphic clutter and everything else that's in my way.

You'll still see pics of my garden, my canoe trips, my musical adventures. I'll just put them in the blog. I'll even put a picture of myself up once a week or so because people have told me they like that. I'm finally going to put up my songbook, complete with lyrics and mp3s. And things will change, and grow, and on we'll go.

You're welcome to come along, if you like-

David.

thank you

I was scared that you had backed away from this form of expression, somewhat. Your stories and philosophies are important and enlightening; and I can't wait to see what you do next with it :)
