Reflections, post DC

After a weekend there, that's all I saw - a tiny glimpse of Washington - but it will take me a while to let it all sink in, let alone tell it properly.

I've looked at one tiny part of the equation, but only that - and from the narrow point of view of view of connecting monuments.

There was so much else about Washington, DC, that was beautiful, inspiring, and truly grand. There is much I love about America, and in the Mall and the museums, and especially, the Lincoln memorial, where there was so much truth and clarity... I saw that in abundance, among many friendly people and a host of gorgeous spaces.

More especially I saw it among friends and colleagues who strive to bring their own love of American ideals to the practice of journalism.

Most of all, I come home to my American/Canadian sweetheart, and we agree that close borders can be loving borders.

For that and all I saw in a weekend there, I thank Washington and America and Canada too.

D.
