The Flicker and the Flame

Do you still remember that old Chevrolet
The endless rolling road on that Victoria Day
The top was down the wind was blowing every which way
It only fanned the flicker and the flame

The times you spent a-strolling down the beach hand in hand
The sweet adventures of a loving lifetime you planned
Proud pioneers of a wondrous New-land
Keepers of the flicker and the flame

Then at last the big day came
Lovers joined in heart and name
Things would never be the same
When the flicker found the flame...

Children playing, neighbours saying How do you do?
Garden growing, breezes blowing, look at the view
Laughter on the deck around the old barbeque
The warm glow of the flicker and the flame

Happy times in pleasant parks (ville)
Doorway scratched with children's marks
Laughing loons, lighthearted larks
Looks like l love still gives off sparks!

Now what a wonderful couple you make
Your happy home and the crazy trips that you take
Candles glowing on your anniversary cake
There's still a lot of flicker in the flame!
----------
Do you still remember that old Chevrolet....

One for my Mom and Dad, whose greatest gift to each other and to me has been to keep on rolling together.
