Shelter Valley Road, remixed

This is pretty cool! I was over at Alex Cheung's place last evening, practicing for our upcoming gig at the Human Bean in Cobourg.

I ran through Shelter Valley Road a couple of times, once on guitar with rack harp accompaniment, and once on the uke. Alex was recording as we went, and asked if I'd play the song once through on the reso for him to record, then sing it once into the mic. Well, sure...

Today I got an mp3 in my email. Alex had taken the track and remixed it - laid the vocal on the uke track and grabbed the harp part from the first run through. Then he laid on a couple of fiddle licks with some simple effects, including a slide guitar/saw sound, made the vocals sound kinda tinny and old-timey... and presto!

It's Shelter Valley Road, organically remixed! I hope the friends and supporters of the SVFF like it as well as I do.

If the track does not play on clicking, right-click on the link, (ctrl-click for macs) and save the mp3 to the desktop. Then you can play at will.

This song is so beautiful, timeless and ultimately true. I feel like the remix just adds to its honesty.
