Was There Ever Such a Spring?
Live performance at the Red Brick Hotel
Was there ever such a spring?
The robins in the treetops sing,
The water trickles in the creek
The sunshine lights upon my cheek
Just like a butterfly
With wings to fly where you and I
In dreams might dare to soar
From leaf to leaf, the warm breeze
As fair and careless as you please
Like laughter, tickles every tree
Like music, swirls in harmony
As insects hum along
A splendid song, of chords so strong
All nature seems to roar
Wholesome, heartfelt sweet delight
At blue skies burnished sapphire-bright
The warm sun smiles through wisps of cloud
A seagull swoops and whoops aloud
While far below its cries
The echoes rise, of sweet surprise
And lovely laughter's ring
Flutters through the forest fair
On puffs of perfume in the air
Above a fragrant flowered field
Where blushing blossoms bow and yield
To what the wind would do,
Like me to you, in homage to
The wondrous whims of spring.
